The Veteran Hunters
As a currently serving member of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) this initiative is very near to my heart. The founder of this fantastic organization, Captain Todd Hisey (retired), personally suffers from PTSD from his time in the CAF and his tours to Bosnia and Kosovo and here is what he has to say;
"We are a non-profit organization run by Canadian Army Veterans with the mission of helping Veterans with PTSD, by providing them with a hunt. All participants in the program have deployed on operations and suffer from PTSD, and other physical injuries. As part of our healing we find hunting extremely therapeutic. Being in nature and stalking an animal requires you to be in the moment and mindful of your surroundings. It has given us an opportunity for self discovery and a reaffirmation and validation of our skills as soldiers. Hunting provides us with a sense of purpose and a real meaning again". - Founder Todd Hisey
